The problem with Chantix is that it works. If it didn't work people would simply stop taking it.In a unofficial survery of doctors who prescribe Chantix. I learned that 70% or more of the patients who took Chantix (varenicline) quit smoking without problems. The other 30% is what is driving the whole controversy. And because of the reported side effects the sales of Chantix has been in a steady decline since 2008.
How do you deal with the other patients who can't for some reason quit with Chantix?
Not an easy question to answer but there ARE other ways to quit. Any method except for quitting cold-turkey is going to cause side effects. One has to personally weigh each risk and come up with a solution that works best for them. Sounds simple I know but it is the truth.
It can be done...you can do it.

I am proud to be a part of the reason for the slide in Pfizer's sales going downhill. I can't say what I would do to those who pushed this poison on me. 30% had problems. That is a BIG number. Out of those who did quit using chantix how many STAYED quit? It is only a substitute for nicotine. How much is Pfizer paying you to promote chantix Dr Howell? Keep ignoring those patients and see what happens. Even Pfizer says the success rate is only 44% when did you up the anti Dr. Howell?
